Donhad was founded in Perth, Western Australia in August of 1965. The company commenced operations as Doncaster Hadfields Proprietary which was later simplified to Donhad. It is a major Australian manufacturer of forged steel grinding media, engineering forgings and a range of specialised fasteners for use in the mining and mineral processing industry.
Donhad was acquired by Moly-Cop, the world’s largest manufacturer of steel grinding media, with facilities in Australia, Canada, Chile, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru and the United States, in April 2018. Moly-Cop is owned by American Industrial Partners (AIP), a US based private equity firm.
Donhad has three grinding media manufacturing operations strategically located in Perth, Newcastle, and Townsville. All three operations meet the stringent requirements of AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 and Occupational Health and Safety Standard AS/NZS 4801:2001. The Perth operation also has a forging and heat treatment facility for the manufacture and supply of specialised fasteners.
